Parkchester
Parkchester is in the east-central Bronx, centered on the planned apartment complex of the same name bounded by East Tremont Avenue, Castle Hill Avenue, Westchester Avenue and White Plains Road. Metropolitan Life built it from 1939 to 1942: 171 brick buildings of eight or 13 stories arranged around a central oval with a fountain. The complex was converted to condominiums in two stages, in 1974 and 1986, and in city tax-lot data about 87% of homes in the area are now condominium units. The 6 stops at Parkchester and Castle Hill Avenue stations on Westchester Avenue along the southern edge. The Parkchester branch library is at 1985 Westchester Avenue.
Parkchester has 7,948 open HPD housing violations, 2,362 of them Class C (immediately hazardous). Inspectors issued 3,370 new violations here in the last 12 months. That's the 30th most open violations of 39 neighborhoods in Bronx.

Station locations checked by placing MTA Subway Stations coordinates inside the 2020 NTA boundary; housing-stock shares computed from PLUTO residential units by building class and year built for lots inside the NTA (rounded). Both 6-train stations sit on Westchester Avenue within about 40 m of the NTA boundary (just outside it), so they are described as along the edge. Library at 1985 Westchester Ave confirmed inside the NTA via PLUTO. Fact-check 2026-10-12: Corrected the southern boundary street to Westchester Avenue per Wikipedia. Building count, heights, 1939-1942 construction, 1974/1986 condo conversions and the library address confirmed on Wikipedia; 87% condo share re-computed from PLUTO.
