Bedford Park

Bedford Park is a residential area in the northwest Bronx, south of Mosholu Parkway and next to the New York Botanical Garden, with Jerome Avenue and the Grand Concourse as its main north-south roads. Its housing is mostly five- and six-story apartment buildings: PLUTO data shows about 60% of its roughly 23,700 residential units in elevator buildings, 33% in walk-ups, and about 59% in buildings put up before 1940. Tracey Towers, two 41-story Mitchell-Lama towers designed by Paul Rudolph and completed in 1972, stand beside the Jerome Park Reservoir, most of which lies inside this area. Transit is strong: the B and D under the Grand Concourse and the 4 on the Jerome Avenue elevated, plus Metro-North's Harlem Line at Botanical Garden station, about 100 m past its eastern edge.

Tracey Towers, Metro-North station and street layout from Wikipedia. Housing figures computed from PLUTO 26v2 residential units, with lots assigned to this NTA through 2020 census tracts (NYC Planning tract-to-NTA codes); building type uses PLUTO building class (C = walk-up, D = elevator, A/B = one- and two-family). Subway stations placed by point-in-polygon test of MTA station coordinates against the 2020 NTA boundary (data.cityofnewyork.us 9nt8-h7nd); 'just outside' means within about 150 m of the edge. Re-verified 2026-10-12: recomputed every PLUTO 26v2 share from the raw lots (2020 tract-to-NTA codes from data.cityofnewyork.us 63ge-mke6) and re-ran the station point-in-polygon test against the 2020 NTA file. Botanical Garden Metro-North station is about 100 m outside the NTA (in the Bronx Park NTA) per MTA Rail Stations coordinates; most of the Jerome Park Reservoir lies inside this NTA. Tracey Towers details from Wikipedia (PLUTO lists its lot at 40 W Mosholu Pkwy S in this NTA).
