West Village
The West Village is the western part of Greenwich Village, from 14th Street south toward Houston Street, between the Hudson River and roughly Sixth and Seventh Avenues. Its streets follow an older grid set at an angle to the rest of Manhattan, and its housing is largely early-19th-century rowhouses and townhouses with small apartment buildings. Most of it is inside the Greenwich Village Historic District, designated in 1969. The 1 train stops at Christopher Street and 14th Street, the 2 and 3 also stop at 14th Street, and West 4th Street–Washington Square serves the A, B, C, D, E, F and M. Hudson River Park lines the waterfront. The Stonewall Inn is part of the Stonewall National Monument.
West Village has 9,250 open HPD housing violations, 1,340 of them Class C (immediately hazardous). Inspectors issued 1,965 new violations here in the last 12 months. That's the 18th most open violations of 33 neighborhoods in Manhattan.
