Whitestone & Beechhurst

Whitestone and Beechhurst sit on the north shore of Queens along the East River, east of College Point and north of Flushing. The area is residential. Beechhurst, the northeastern section, lies north of the Cross Island Parkway between the approaches to the Bronx–Whitestone and Throgs Neck bridges; its waterfront Arthur and Dorothy Dalton Hammerstein House is a city landmark. No subway serves the area; local buses such as the Q15, Q16 and Q20 connect to the 7 train at Flushing–Main Street, and express buses run to Manhattan. The Bronx–Whitestone Bridge, completed in 1939, carries I-678 to the Bronx. Francis Lewis Park, on 3rd Avenue, has two overlooks with views of the bridge and the East River, and the lower one gives beach access.
