Kensington

Kensington lies south of Prospect Park and Green-Wood Cemetery. Its rough edges are Caton Avenue to the north, Coney Island Avenue to the east, the Dahill Road and McDonald Avenue area to the west, and Foster Avenue or Avenue F to the south. Ocean Parkway runs through the middle. The housing mixes brick rowhouses, detached Victorian houses and many pre-war apartment buildings. Six-story elevator buildings and co-ops line Ocean Parkway. PLUTO data puts about 47% of its roughly 14,400 homes in elevator buildings. The F and G trains stop at Church Avenue, and the F continues on an elevated line to Ditmas Avenue. The corner of McDonald and Church Avenues was co-named Little Bangladesh in 2022.
