Borough Park
Borough Park (also spelled Boro Park) is in southwestern Brooklyn (Community District 12), between Sunset Park, Kensington, Bensonhurst and Dyker Heights. The housing is mostly small multi-family: about 94% of residential lots hold one to five units, with clusters of larger apartment buildings, and about 69% of residential lots date from before 1940. The main shopping streets are 13th, 16th and 18th Avenues. The D train stops at 50th and 55th Streets on the elevated West End Line, the N stops at Fort Hamilton Parkway, and the F runs along McDonald Avenue at the eastern edge. Dome Playground is one of the area's few parks.
Borough Park has 36,262 open HPD housing violations, 3,811 of them Class C (immediately hazardous). Inspectors issued 6,822 new violations here in the last 12 months. That's the 11th most open violations of 53 neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
