Bath Beach
Bath Beach is in southwestern Brooklyn on Gravesend Bay, across 86th Street from Bensonhurst and next to Dyker Beach Park. Despite the name, the original beach was paved over; the Shore Parkway promenade and bike path run along the water instead. Housing is mostly small: about 71% of residential lots are one- or two-family homes and another quarter hold three to five units, with a few larger apartment buildings. The D train runs on the elevated West End Line above 86th Street along the northern edge, stopping at 18th Avenue, 20th Avenue and Bay Parkway. Bensonhurst Park (17.5 acres) and Bath Beach Park are inside the area.
Bath Beach has 6,534 open HPD housing violations, 916 of them Class C (immediately hazardous). Inspectors issued 1,647 new violations here in the last 12 months. That's the 50th most open violations of 53 neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
